FACULTY DEVELOPMENT

What forms of faculty development support can AIM provide?

While there is a dedicated Faculty Development Office, we recognize that AIM can contribute to its faculty members’ development in various ways. Thus, faculty development at AIM is a holistic endeavor. Upon the approval of the Institute Dean, here are some ways by which AIM can support you:

1. Training

        a. FDO can provide financial assistance for faculty members’ participation in local or international training

relevant to pedagogical innovations (e.g. case method, blended learning, flipped classrooms, etc.) and                  areas of specialization (finance, negotiations, development, etc.).

        b. FDO coordinates the conduct of in-house training facilitated by industry or area experts.

2. Higher education and professional certifications. FDO can provide funding for the following:

        a. Doctoral studies scholarships/ research grants (See attached PhD support policy).

        b. Professional certification (e.g. CFA, MBTI certification, etc.).

        c. Membership in professional organizations (e.g. Management Association of the Philippines, Association

for Consumer Research, Case Research Journal, etc.).

3. Coaching, mentoring, and/or peer observation sessions. FDO can arrange for coaching, mentoring,

    and/or peer observation sessions by:

        a. Coordinating classroom video documentation requests for faculty self-assessment.

        b. Creating a team of coaches/ mentors who can best work with the faculty.

        c. Coordinating the conduct of observation sessions by coaches or peers.

        d. Providing objective feedback and suggestions for improvement, in relation to observation sessions.

4. Research-related support. AIM’s Office of Research and Publications (ORP) can provide the following         research-related support, provided terms and conditions set by ORP are met:

        a. Support to international research paper presentations.

        b. Incentives for publication in international peer-reviewed journals.

5. Knowledge-sharing

       a. FDO and ORP can arrange for the conduct of brownbag or echo sessions to share results of research                      conducted or training sessions attended by faculty.

       b. Information related to training, research, and other concerns relevant to faculty development are

             regularly shared via information-sharing sites.

       c. Videos of past-trainings, as well as selected class sessions may be accessed through a file-sharing site.
